Abstract
According to the cancer register in Novosibirsk for the period of 1988-2012 there were studied the incidence and mortality from cancer of the colon and rectum. For rectal cancer indicators declined slightly but similar rates for colon cancer remained highly stable. While the rate of detection of stage III-IV colorectal cancer decreased by one third. Men exposed to colorectal cancer more often than women, especially in the older age groups, while there were differences between cancer of the colon and rectum. The authors discuss possibilities of control over the incidence of colorectal cancer. Screening is currently optimal, which includes non-invasive analysis of the fecal samples and colonoscopy that allows diagnosing precancerous colon lesions and early cancer.References
