Abstract
Mycosis fungoides is a lymphoproliferative disorder characterized by obligatory cutaneous involvement as its primary clinical manifestation. Patients with this condition typically require prolonged treatment courses and continuous medical monitoring, necessitating accurate and timely assessment of therapeutic efficacy based on cutaneous evaluation. However, significant challenges exist in clinical practice due to the current lack of standardized guidelines and validated algorithms for comprehensive skin assessment. Precise evaluation of cutaneous lesions in mycosis fungoides helps to determine baseline skin tumor burden during initial diagnosis and monitor disease progression. This diagnostic imperative concerns multiple medical specialties including dermatologists, oncologists, hematologists, radiation therapists, and chemotherapists. This review details the characteristic lesions and clinical variants of mycosis fungoides, while systematically examining available methods for quantifying cutaneous involvement (both in terms of surface area and morphological features) that may be implemented in routine clinical practice.
