Abstract

69 female FVB/N mice were used. After subcutaneous inoculation of tumor cells of transplantable HER2-positive mammary adenocarcinoma all animals were randomly divided into 7 groups and received metformin 100 mg /kgdaily, melatonin 10 mg/kg daily, paclitaxel 6 mg/kg once a week as a monotherapy or in combination. Treatment efficacy was assessed by tumor growth inhibition and the tumor growth index. It was shown that melatonin increased the cytotoxic effect of pacli-taxel whereas monotherapy with metformin led to statistically significant tumor growth inhibition
